Osmanthus (桂花), is also known as sweet olive or tea olive. The tiny, unassuming little flowers of osmanthus release the most heavenly scent.

I wanted to capture some of this flower’s beauty in paper. This paper osmanthus branch was created based on real cuttings from my garden and designed with a small wire loop so it can be hung on the wall. Each leaf and tiny flower is carefully cut from German crepe paper, painted in acrylic medium for the right texture, and wired by hand. Further coloring is done with artist-grade pencils and ink so that each leaf has its own unique character, just like a real plant.
