The leaves are crafted from Izumo Mingei Mitsumata handmade paper, known for its rich, shimmering tonalities. Mitsumata refers to the bark fiber from the shrub Edgeworthia chrysantha, prized for its use in high-quality, lustrous Japanese paper. The Izumo Mingei Misumata papers are handcrafted in Shimane, Japan by the grandson (Shinichiro Abe) of the late Mr. Eishiro Abe - the first papermaker to be designated as a National Living Treasure.
